Threads | Mimar

Mimar is a fine printed texture from the Threads Moro collection, a range built around the soft blues and teals of sea and sky. The print is subtle rather than graphic, a small, irregular mark repeating every 4 centimetres across the linen ground, so it reads from across a room as a gentle, mottled colour rather than a pattern with a name. It has the quiet, sun-faded character the whole Moro collection shares.

The cloth is 100 per cent linen, 132 centimetres wide, with a 4 centimetre horizontal repeat. There is no published rub count, so we treat it as a curtain and light-upholstery cloth. It comes in two colourways, Teal and Bronze: Teal is the cooler, sea-and-sky colour at the heart of the collection, while Bronze is the warmer, metallic-toned option that works well against timber.

We tend to use Mimar for curtains in a living room or bedroom, where the mottled colour reads as a considered wash rather than a print, and for a pair of occasional chairs or a window seat cushion. Pair it with a plain linen or a heavier textured weave elsewhere in the room, so the colour has space to work on its own without competition. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

The repeat is small enough to be almost ignored for quantities, but keep the direction of the print consistent across joined widths and on any occasional upholstery you make from it. Line and interline curtains for weight and to protect the linen and its print from strong sun, and dry clean only; do not bleach or iron it directly, since the print sits on the surface of the cloth.
