Mondello is a textured linen weave from the Threads Faraway collection, with a broad 50 by 34 centimetre repeat that moves across the cloth as a soft, irregular rhythm rather than a clear motif. The scale is generous, so from across a room it reads as an organic, hand-worked surface, closer to the texture of raw plaster than to a printed pattern. Being pure linen, the hand is dry and slightly slubbed, with the weight to hang well at a window.

The cloth is 100 per cent linen, 137 centimetres wide, with a 50 centimetre vertical repeat and a 34 centimetre horizontal repeat. The page lists it for curtains; there is no rub count, so it is not one we would put on seating. It comes in four colourways, Ivory, Parchment, Spice and Indigo: Ivory and Parchment are the soft neutrals, Spice is a warm, earthy accent, and Indigo is the deep, graphic option for a room that wants more contrast.

We tend to use Mondello for full-length curtains in a living room or study, where the scale of the repeat can be read properly, and for Roman blinds in a bedroom. It pairs well with a plain from Quintessential Naturals on the sofa and with a cushion cut from one of the Faraway prints. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Allow a full 50 centimetre repeat per drop when calculating curtain quantities, and match the pattern across widths so the join falls in a quiet part of the weave. Line and interline for weight and to protect the linen from sun, and dry clean only; do not wash, bleach or iron it directly.
