Threads | Naxos

Naxos is a small-scale two-tone weave from the Threads Faraway collection, woven with a fine, irregular grain that plays pale against dark across the cloth. The structure repeats every 16 centimetres down the length and 34 centimetres across the width, tight enough that from normal viewing distance it reads as a soft, flecked texture rather than a pattern. The cotton-linen-acrylic blend gives it a dry, slightly crisp hand with just enough body to hold a fold.

The composition is 61 per cent cotton, 31 per cent linen and 8 per cent acrylic, on a 136 centimetre width, with a 16 centimetre vertical repeat and a 34 centimetre horizontal repeat. There is no published rub count, so we use it for curtains and light upholstery rather than a family sofa. It comes in a single colourway, Ivory/Charcoal, a two-tone mix that reads as a warm, textured neutral from across a room and only shows its fleck up close.

We tend to use Naxos for curtains in a study or bedroom, where the texture adds quiet interest without competing with anything else, and for Roman blinds, where the two-tone weave sits flat and even. It also makes a good pair of occasional chairs or a window seat cushion. Pair it with a plain linen or one of the Faraway prints on a single accent piece. With a repeat in both directions, match the weave across seams and keep the grain running the same way on every width and cushion piece; a two-tone yarn shows any inconsistency in direction more readily than a plain would. Line and interline curtains for weight, and dry clean only, since the acrylic content means the cloth should never be washed or ironed directly.
