Threads | Omega

Omega is a versatile textured plain from the Threads Quintessential Textures collection, woven from viscose, cotton, linen, acrylic and polyester into a fine, even grain with no motif to speak of. It is one of the broadest colour ranges in the collection, which is why we reach for it whenever a scheme needs one dependable, textural neutral running through several rooms, from a pale hallway to a more saturated study.

The composition is 34 per cent viscose, 31 per cent cotton, 15 per cent linen, 13 per cent acrylic and 7 per cent polyester, on a 140 centimetre width with no pattern repeat. It is rated at 40,000 rubs on the Martindale test, so it is rated for upholstery, and the page lists it for curtains and for loose and fixed upholstery. It comes in eight colourways; Ivory, Linen, Parchment, Indigo and Forest give a good sense of the range, running from soft whites and sands through to a deep blue and a grounded green.

We tend to use Omega on sofas and armchairs where a plain has to carry the room, on dining chairs, and as heavy curtains where the weight of the cloth helps the drape. It pairs well with a printed cushion from Faraway or a striped weave from Great Stripes on an occasional chair. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

With no repeat, quantities are straightforward, but keep the weave direction consistent across every panel and cut all pieces for one item from the same bolt to avoid shading. Line and interline curtains for weight, and dry clean only; do not wash, bleach or iron it directly.
