Patina is a softly textured wallcovering from the Threads Variation Wallpaper collection, a companion to the range's statement weaves and embroideries. Rather than a printed motif, the surface has an all-over, weathered texture, closer to aged plaster or beaten metal than to a conventional paper, so it reads as a warm, tactile backdrop rather than a pattern. It is the kind of paper we use when a wall needs atmosphere rather than a design.

The paper is 100 per cent non-woven, 52 centimetres wide; no repeat or match is published for this design. It comes in three colourways: Stone and Indigo are named, and a third, deeper option is known by its reference number, 910. Stone is the pale, textured neutral, Indigo is the graphic, dark blue for a single wall, and 910 sits between the two.

We tend to use Patina behind a bed, in a study, or on the back wall of an alcove where the texture can be appreciated at close range. It pairs well with a plain linen curtain and a textured weave on the seating, so the wall carries the interest on its own. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.

Roll width for this paper is 52 centimetres; roll lengths are commonly around 10 metres as an industry rule of thumb, which would give roughly three drops on a standard 2.4 metre wall, so a 4 metre wall would need about two rolls, though we would always confirm the true roll length before ordering. Hang paste-the-wall, as is standard for a non-woven paper, butt the joins, and check that every roll is from the same batch before you start.
