Praire is a plain cotton-linen weave from the Threads Quintessential Naturals collection, a group of relaxed, unfussy cloths built for curtains and blinds rather than upholstery. There is no repeat or motif, only the natural grain of the weave, and the cotton content gives it a slightly crisper, more even hand than a pure linen would have on its own. It is a dependable, quiet plain for a room that wants texture without taking on any pattern at all.
The cloth is 75 per cent cotton and 25 per cent linen, 145 centimetres wide, with no pattern repeat. The collection is designed for curtains and blinds rather than upholstery, and there is no published rub count, so we keep it off seating entirely. It comes in a single colourway, Linen, a warm, mid-toned natural that works with almost any wall colour, from plaster pink to pale grey.
We tend to use Praire for full-length curtains in a bedroom or living room, where the plain lets other elements in the room carry the interest, and for Roman blinds in a kitchen or bathroom where a flat panel shows the weave at its best. Pair it with a Faraway print on cushions or an occasional chair, so the room keeps one calm, settled layer. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
With no repeat, quantities are simply drop times width, but keep the weave direction consistent across joined widths so the surface reads evenly from one panel to the next. Line and interline the curtains for weight, allow a generous hem for natural movement in a cotton-linen blend, and dry clean only rather than washing it at home.
