Threads | Renwick

Renwick is a fine cotton stripe from the Threads Great Stripes collection, with a tight 2.5 centimetre repeat that reads as a crisp, tailored line rather than a bold graphic. The stripe is woven rather than printed, so it has a slight texture to the touch as well as to the eye, and the 100 per cent cotton construction gives it a clean, matte finish that suits a pared-back, architectural scheme particularly well.

The cloth is 100 per cent cotton, 137 centimetres wide, with a 2.5 centimetre horizontal repeat. It is rated at 3,000 double rubs on the Wyzenbeek cotton duck test, which is a light-duty figure, so we keep it mainly to curtains, cushions and light occasional upholstery rather than a family sofa, even though the page lists it for loose and fixed upholstery too. It comes in two colourways, Taupe and Midnight: Taupe is the soft neutral stripe, and Midnight the deep, near-navy option for a room that wants more contrast.

We tend to use Renwick for full-length curtains in a living room or study, where the fine stripe adds a tailored, architectural note, and for a bench cushion or an occasional chair in a busy hallway. It pairs well with a plain from Quintessential Naturals or a heavier texture from Luxury Weaves on the main seating. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Match the fine stripe carefully across widths and keep the direction consistent on cushions and any upholstered piece. Line and interline curtains for weight, and given the light rub count, keep upholstered pieces to occasional use only rather than daily-use seating; it is dry clean only.
