Threads | Silken Stripe

Silken Stripe is a broad woven stripe from the Threads Meridian collection, its bands built into the jacquard with a soft, silken sheen that shifts gently with the light. The stripe is generous in scale, repeating every 50 centimetres down the cloth and 68.5 centimetres across it, so it reads as a considered, architectural rhythm rather than a busy ticking at the window.

The cloth is 54 per cent cotton, 34 per cent viscose and 12 per cent polyester, 137 centimetres wide, with a 50 centimetre vertical repeat and a 68.5 centimetre horizontal repeat. There is no published rub count, and the page lists it for curtains rather than upholstery, so we keep it to windows and blinds. It comes in a single colourway, Quartz, a soft, pale pink-grey that reads as a quiet neutral with just a hint of warmth to it.

We tend to use Silken Stripe for curtains in a bedroom or a dressing room, where the sheen and the soft colour suit a more considered, tailored room, and for Roman blinds where the broad stripe sits flat and reads clearly. Pair it with a plain linen or a velvet on the main seating, so the stripe stays the single, quiet point of interest. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

With a repeat in both directions, match the stripe across joined widths, and expect a wide window to need careful planning given the scale of the design and the cost of getting it wrong. Line and interline curtains for weight and to protect the sheen from strong, direct sun, and dry clean only; do not bleach or iron it directly at home.
