Stelvio is an irregular, banded design from the Threads Faraway Wallpaper collection, printed on a non-woven ground and named for the high Alpine pass whose hairpin road it loosely echoes. Loose vertical bands vary in width and density as if brushed by hand, so the effect reads as a soft, weathered striation rather than a formal stripe, and the eye moves up the wall rather than across it.
The paper is 100 per cent non-woven, 52 centimetres wide, with a 51.5 centimetre vertical repeat and a straight match, hung paste-the-wall. It comes in five colourways, Marble, Parchment, Tawny, Dusk and Eucalyptus: Marble and Parchment are the palest, whole-room options, Tawny brings warmth to a north-facing room, Dusk is a soft blue-grey, and Eucalyptus is the one green in the range.
We tend to use Stelvio on the wall behind a bed, in a stairwell where the vertical movement adds height as you climb, and on all four walls of a small study or a cloakroom. It pairs well with a plain linen at the window and a textured weave on any seating, so the wall does the work on its own without competing for attention. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.
With a straight match and a 51.5 centimetre repeat, allow a repeat's worth of waste on every drop, and check the roll length printed on the batch label before calculating how many rolls the room will need. Paste the wall with a non-woven adhesive, hang from a plumb line at the centre of the main wall, and keep every roll used on one wall from the same batch so the banding stays consistent from corner to corner.
