Stipple is a textured weave from the Threads Luxury Weaves II collection, a viscose-led blend with linen, cotton and polyester that gives the surface a fine, dappled grain, as if the yarn had been worked in small, irregular touches rather than a single even thread. It is a quiet, sophisticated plain with just enough visual interest to reward a second look, without ever tipping into pattern, so it sits happily behind a bolder cushion or a piece of art.
The cloth is 51 per cent viscose, 24 per cent linen, 17 per cent cotton and the balance polyester and polycotton, 140 centimetres wide, with no pattern repeat. There is no rub count published, so we treat it as a curtain and light-seating cloth rather than a cloth for a family sofa, even though the page lists it for loose and fixed upholstery too. It comes in three colourways, Ivory, Dove and Charcoal: Ivory is the palest, Dove is the soft mid-grey, and Charcoal is the deepest, most grounding option for a room that wants a little more weight.
We tend to use Stipple for curtains in a living room or bedroom where the dappled texture adds quiet interest, and for an occasional chair or a headboard where use is moderate. It pairs well with a printed Nala cushion or a smooth velvet on the main sofa. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
There is no repeat, but the blend can shade slightly along the roll, so cut all the pieces for one item from the same bolt and keep the weave direction consistent. Line and interline curtains for weight, and dry clean the cloth rather than washing it.
