Threads | Taftan Stripe

Taftan Stripe is a fine vertical stripe from the Threads Faraway collection, printed in a single deep tone on a pure cotton ground. The stripe is narrow, repeating every 4 centimetres across the width, so from a normal distance it reads as a crisp, graphic texture rather than a bold stripe, and only close up does the individual line become clear. It is a confident, architectural print for a room that wants structure, whether that is a study wall of books or a formal dining room.

The cloth is 100 per cent cotton, 132 centimetres wide, with a 4 centimetre horizontal repeat and no vertical repeat, which keeps cutting simple. There is no rub count published, so we treat it as a curtain and light-seating cloth rather than a cloth for a family sofa, even though the page lists it for loose and fixed upholstery too. It comes in a single colourway, Ebony, a deep, near-black that gives real graphic weight to a window or a chair.

We tend to use Taftan Stripe for full-length curtains in a study or a dining room, where the vertical line adds height, and for an occasional chair or a bench cushion where the stripe can be read up close. It pairs well with a plain linen or a Quintessential Naturals weave on the main sofa. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Match the stripe across widths so the vertical lines run true at every seam, and centre a stripe on a chair seat or cushion before the cutter starts. Line and interline curtains so the drop hangs straight and the stripe stays vertical, and dry clean only.
