Tor is a soft cotton-linen plain from the Threads Quintessential Naturals collection, a group of easy, unfussy weaves built for curtains and blinds. There is no pattern to speak of: the cloth's interest comes from the fine, even grain of the weave itself, which reads as a quiet, matte surface across a run of curtains or a flat Roman blind. It has the dry hand of good linen with the extra stability that cotton gives a plain weave, and no repeat to plan around.
The cloth is 55 per cent cotton and 45 per cent linen, 137 centimetres wide, with no pattern repeat. The page lists it for curtains, and the wider collection is designed for curtains and blinds; there is no rub count published, so we would not put it on seating. It comes in two colourways, Ivory and Parchment: Ivory is the cooler, chalkier neutral, while Parchment leans slightly warmer and sits well against timber and stone.
We tend to use Tor for full-length curtains in a bedroom or living room where the scheme is built on texture rather than colour, and for Roman blinds in a kitchen or bathroom where a flat panel shows the weave at its best. It pairs well with a heavier textured plain on the sofa and with a printed cushion for contrast. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
With no repeat, quantities are simple drop times widths, but the weave has a visible grain, so keep the direction consistent across widths and cut all the pieces for one window from the same bolt to avoid shading. Line the curtains, and interline them if the window is large or south-facing, to give the cloth enough weight to hang well; it is dry clean only, so plan blinds with that in mind.
